Et absolut samlerobjekt fra et af Spaniens største kulthuse

Dominio de Pingus Ribera Del Duero is in the top three of Spains most expensive wines. The Pingus estate has a small but highly regarded portfolio consisting of this flagship Pingus wine, Amelia, Flor de Pingus and PSI. With an average price of €900 it’s not exactly budget-friendly, but with an aggregated score of 95 points, this pure Tempranillo doesn’t disappoint.

Dominio de Pingus Ribera del Duero was first made in 1995 by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck. He took that wine to the Bordeaux en primeur tastings and it caused a sensation when it gained a 96-100 rating from Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate. Production is only around 6600 bottles per year – around one-tenth of that of junior wine Flor de Pingus

The 1998 Pingus has evolved an intriguing, almost animally bouquet with touches of leather, espresso, melted tar and dark chocolate. Interestingly, it seems more mature when compared to the 1995. There is a sweet, sappy entry on the palate with an almost vitamin-like purity. However, there is a sense of monotony towards the finish, like a violinist refusing to move his fingers down the frets. It is pleasurable, but it does not really go anywhere, rending the finish a little static. Drink now-2018+.
